Event descriptionFriday 9 September. Crystal Palace Park. Middle Distance. starts 1900-2030. Headlights required. Saturday 10 September. Rotherhithe. Long distance urban. Starts 1000-1300. This is the main race of the weekend (the only one with prizes!) Sunday 11 September. Soho. Short/middle distance. Starts 0830-0930.
Terrain descriptionCrystal Palace Park is mostly parkland, and includes the foundations of the original palace (burnt down in 1936), national sports centre with athletics stadium and 50m swimming pool and a small sculptured area with model dinosaurs. Rotherhithe is to the south-east of Central London. It is mostly modern housing estates (very intricate from an orienteering viewpoint) with some old dockland and some parkland. Soho is in the heart of London and has many small streets and alleyways. Runners are as likely to encounter late night revellers from Saturday as compared to early risers on Sunday.
Holiday activities,nature,hiking etc.Arrive early for the first race and use the 50m pool at Crystal Palace. Stay late after the last race and watch the last stage of cycling's Tour of Britain.
