Event descriptionThe Thuringian 24-hour Orienteering relay is a cyclic relay competition for 24 hours. This year is the 20th edition of this traditional bi-annual event. There are only two categories, 12 and 24 hours. Six runners form a team, at least two of them must be female, and at most three may be M19-34. After the sixth runner finishes, the first runner starts again, and so on. Each runner may choose from a set of short or long, easy or difficult courses. Legs typically take 30-60 minutes, so every runner will run 5-6 times during the 24 hours. Tactics play an important role: Which team member shall run which course and when? About 100 teams are expected for the 24 hours, and 80 teams for the 12 hours competition Start/finish, event centre and camping ground are at one central location.
Terrain descriptionModerately hilly mixed woods, see map. Start/finish and camping grounds are centrally located within a large wooded area. Courses go into all directions.
