Event descriptionThe same team that brought you the highly successful Rome Orienteering Meeting 2013 are again pleased to present 3 exceptional days of orienteering in the Capital city of Italy. Subject to final land access permissions the areas will be as detailed below: The Event will start on Friday 1 May with an afternoon race in the glorious park of Villa Doria Pamphili, formerly home to one of Rome's most powerful and historic families including some past Popes. The afternoon of Day 2, Saturday 2 May, will see a return to Villa Ada the most challenging classic orienteering area within the City of Rome. Day 3, Sunday 3 May, we will again run in the footsteps of Caesar in the incredible historic centre of Rome. Come and run where the Roman's walked. Day 3 will be a morning race on an ISSOM map. All roads lead to Rome particularly in May 2015 for orienteers. Entries will Open in september 2014 go to www.romeorimeeting.net for furthe rdetails or visit the ROMe2015 site on Facebook.
Terrain descriptionDay 1 - Fast open parkland with some small areas of tree cover, 2 incredible ornamental lakes and small areas of technicality. There may be a deceptive ammount of climb. Day 2 - Villa Ada with its mix of fast running open areas, steep wooded slopes and tricky path networks in the dark green forest will require you to utilize a wide variety of your orienteering skills at various points within your course - complacency will be punished here, so be on your guard. Day 3 - you will race on a map that includes, the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, the Campodoglio and the Tiburtine Island - need I say more, you cannot afford to miss this opportunity.
Training possibilitiesTo be confirmed but will include ParkO and UrbanO reachable by public transport. The organizers can also help provide bespoke training possibilities if requested beforehand.
Holiday activities,nature,hiking etc.You will be in Rome - the opportunities are endless, combine an orienteering extravaganza with the holiday of a lifetime!
