Event descriptionThe Swiss Orienteering Week (SOW) 2016 is an orienteering event for everyone with races on six days with a rest day between the third and fourth days. The event centre is in St. Moritz. The organisers are expecting over 4000 orienteers from more than 30 countries. Most of the race areas in the Upper Engadin are being used for orienteering for the first time. As well as courses for the trained runners there will be easy courses for holidaymakers, walkers and beginners on offer on every race day. Entries start 1st September 2015
Training possibilitiesWelcome O: Access to the Engadin valley is via any one of six passes. On each of these passes an O map with fixed controls will welcome runners to the O summer in the Engadin. SOW Trainings: In addition to the welcome O, 11 different O maps with fixed controls will be available during 3 weeks (11th – 31st July, 2016) for individual training for every family, club and national squad.
Holiday activities,nature,hiking etc.Engadin St. Moritz is the best-known and one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Switzerland, the holiday paradise. The Engadin valley offers everything that you expect from holidays. In the morning you enjoy a SOW race and in the afternoon the extensive range of possibilities for tourism in the whole Engadin: 15 cable cars and mountain railways, over 1000 km of marked walking trails, some of them with themes, multiday treks, nature excursions, wild animal spotting, 400km of mountain bike trails, cycle tours over the passes, mountaineering, glacier tours, via ferratas, rope parks, lakes for swimming, open-air and indoor swimming pools, beach volleyball, kite surfing, sailing, river rafting, canoeing, spas, sports facilities, children’s playgrounds, scooters, in-line skating, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, golf courses, horse riding, paragliding, fishing, all-year ice skating, churches, museums, art galleries, open-air and indoor cinemas, casino, luxurious boutiques, restaurants, cafés, bars, clubs etc.
