Surveyed by Bryan Teahan 2013. Categories: Competitors 20 years & under belong to the age group up to the end of the calendar year in which they reach the given age. Competitors 21 or over reach the given age. M12 12 and under 2002 W12 12 and under 2002 M16 16 and under 1998 W16 16 and under 1998 M20 20 and under 1994 W20 20 and under 1994 M21 Open W21 Open M40 40 and over 1974 W35 35 and over 1979 M50 50 and over 1964 W45 45 and over 1969 M60 60 and over 1954 W55 55 and over 1959 M70 70 and over 1944 W65 65 and over 1949 In additions to these courses there is a novice course, and non-championship M/W21B courses, at both the middle and long event. Winning times: These will be in line with SAOF guidelines Middle: 30-35 minutes in each category Long: 20-30 minutes for M/W 12 through to 60-70 minutes for W21 and 70-85 minutes for M21. Eligibility: Participation in these events is open to paid up members of a Member Club and paid up members of other IOF Member organisations. All competitors who are South African citizens or residents competing in the championship courses at these events are eligible for trophies and medals. The one exception is visiting (overseas) orienteers or recent arrivals in South Africa (less than 3 months) who may compete on championship courses, but who are not eligible for trophies/medals.
