Event descriptionSuunto Games in Estonia is traditionally the largest orienteering competition in Estonia with a strong international starting field in all categories. Organizers aim to offer the participants technical challenges in a pleasant terrain and introduce the beautiful nature of Haanja uplands. Due to its proximity to one of the embargoed areas, Suunto Games provides relevant training and competing possibilities for WOC 2017.
Terrain descriptionTerrain: Southern slope of Haanja upland, absolute heights in the terrain vary between 215 a.s.l. in the northern part and 175 m a.s.l. in the southern part of the map. Maximum height difference on one slope is 20 m. Medium sized and small hills and depressions are interlaced by marshes of different shapes and sizes. The terrain is very variable in regard to contour features and vegetation. Mixed forest with spruces and pines dominating. Runnability is very varying, but mostly good. Network of roads, paths, and narrow rides is quite poor. Paths and narrow rides are often overgrown. Forested areas make up to 75% of the terrain.
Training possibilitiesA good possibility to start your preparations for WOC 2017.
Holiday activities, nature, hiking etc.Competitions are held on the southern edge of Haanja highlands that is the home for the highest hill in the Baltic states, Suur Munamägi (318m). http://www.haanja.ee/sightseeings/
