Event descriptionKristiansand Orienteringsklubb welcomes you to Norsk O-Festival in Kristiansand, Norway June 21 – 23, 2013. Join us for three days of orienteering on Norway’s beautiful southern coast including an exciting sprint through the Kristiansand Zoo (Dyrepark), and scenic, but technically demanding middle and long distance courses. It’s easy to get here by bus, plane or train, and there are accommodations within walking distance of the all the courses.
Terrain descriptionThe sprint on Friday 21st will be at the Kristiansand Zoo (Dyreparken). A new map will be completed in 2013 at 1:4000 with 2 meter contour intervals. The terrain is an amusement park with a variety of buildings and technical installations, paved paths and alleys, open park and short grass. There are also forested slopes, some quite steep and, of course, fenced areas for animals. The maps for the middle distance race on Saturday and the long distance race on Sunday are sections of the Kvåse map, revised 2012-2013, scale 1:10 000 / 1:7500, 5 meter contour intervals. The terrain is hilly and steep in places with fairly good runability. Some open marshes. The vegetation varies from mixed forest with some dense areas with undergrowth, to open, easily run oak forest. Some clearings of varying age and re-growth.
Training possibilitiesIt will be training possibilities the days before and after the competitions.
