Event description | Rogaining is an endurance navigation sport which started in Australia and is now competed in over 25 countries. Teams of two to five choose their own route around controls to maximise their point score within the 24 hour time limit. The course will be set by national rogaining champions, David Baldwin and Julie Quinn, and will provide excellent navigational challenges in a beautiful environment. The event provides an ideal opportunity to visit the birthplace of rogaining and holiday in Australia’s cities and unique natural places. |
Terrain description | The event will be held in magnificent subalpine country in one of Australia’s iconic areas, Kosciuszko National Park, over 27-28 March 2009. The broader region offers some of Australia’s most beautiful scenery. |
Training possibilities | There are orienteering events in Canberra, the national capital before and after the event. In fact, the Australian 3 day Orienteering Carnival will be held the following week near Canberra |
Holiday activities, nature, hiking etc. | The event will be set in one of Australia's largest national parks, which provides some of Australia's best hiking and nature watching opportunities. There are also many excellent natural areas between where the event will be held and the coast. |
