Event description | The Swiss Orienteering Week is an international multi-day orienteering event that combines holiday, sport and a hint of adventure. Founded in 1996, the Swiss O Week stands for top quality orienteering coupled with a wide range of tourist attractions, interesting culture and atmospheric social events. The Swiss Orienteering Week 2011 is taking place in the alpine tourism destination FlimsLaaxFalera – it will be once again an unforgettable orienteering and holiday experience! |
Terrain description | Seven areas, five of them mapped for the first time, are your guarantee for exciting competitions: a sprint as prologue, an alpine long distance race, four demanding races in pre-alpine terrain and, as the finale, a middle distance race in the Flims rock fall area. The Swiss O Week 2011 is aimed at orienteers that appreciate varied terrain in an impressive natural environment and are looking for a special challenge. |
Training possibilities | Training with fixed controls will be possible on the areas Lag digl Oberst, Ravanasc, Trin (where the middle distance race of the World Championships 2003 took place), Ils Aults, Bonaduzerwald, Dreibündenstein, Lenzerheide and Fürstenwald in the week before the Swiss O Week. Orienteers can spend an extra week’s holiday before the Swiss O Week with their families and clubs – make two weeks holiday out of one Swiss O Week! |
