Event descriptionINVITATION The Spanish Orienteering Federation (FEDO), the Andalusian Orienteering Federation (FADO), the Adol O- club and the city council of Almadén de la Plata as organizers, have the pleasure of inviting all orienterers to participate in the International Orienteering Meeting “Sevilla Día de Andalucía 2.009”, that will be held in “Sierra Norte” Natural Park in Almadén de la Plata Village. GENERAL INFORMATION The International Orienteering Meeting “Sevilla Día de Andalucía 2.009” is a Foot-O 2 days orienteering competition, including the following 3 events: - Long distance: valid for spanish and andalusian leagues. - Sprint: exhibition and unofficial event, no valid for Spanish and andalusian leagues and rest of official events of the competition. - Middle Distance: valid for Elite clases for WRE points and also for spanish and andalusian leagues. Adol experienced O-club is welcoming all orienteers to join a 3 different competitions in 3 different terrains. Here you have an abstract about the mapping & terrain of middle distance event by Janne Weckman (mapper of middle area): "When first arrived there and saw the terrain from the car I knew I would have to do mapping never done before. Not because of the lack of experience but because the terrain is such unique. From the start it was clear I could not put every boulder, cliff or other small detail on the map but somehow have to find the right criteria for generalizing. After deciding suitable style it was still maybe the most difficult and demanding mapping I had ever done. I think I succeeded on the idea of making "finn map", meaning a bit generalized, easy to read and with objects most visible in the terrain also most readable on the map. For runners I could anyway say that you still don´t want to read everything because then you have to walk. Either you don´t want to go always straight because then you have to walk too".
Terrain description-All areas between 400-500 mts above sea level -3 New maps, made in September 2008 according to the IOF rules -Long; dense cork forest with very good runnability (90% white map) and medium hilly, some stone milestones. -Middle; moderate terrain with cork/oak forest and some semiopen areas, extremely rocky and huge stones called “berruecos”, in general map really detailed. -Sprint; City map with some parks in between.
