Terrain descriptionKarst terrain with the typical morphology of a high plateau. Grand amount of depressions and slight re-entrants. Alternation of beech dominated forest and semi open terrain with whitethorn bushes that force the runner to adapt the orienteering technique. The open and slightly hilly terrain allows easy navigation whereas in the areas with developed karst more sophisticated techniques will be necessary. There, the terrain is dominated by depressions, dells and holes, and the ground is often covered by sharp eroded stones. In addition to being a tricky area the runner also needs to take care where to place his feet. A point of high interest in the map is an old wolves trap, a big hole in very good shape of conservation. The height differences of the terrain are mostly very slight, only on the edge of the map you can find some moderate slopes. On the western border of the map there are spectacular views to the surrounding landscape. Of special interest is – in the rainy period - a cascade of the Nervion river with a height of some 300 meters!
