Event descriptionThe carnival is based in Launceston, a city of 70,000 with plenty of accommodation, supermarkets and restaurants and accessible by direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney. Friday is traditionally the elite prologue and family relays with the Australian 3 Days Championships on 3 separate maps Saturday to Monday. Following the carnival there are public events on Wednesday and Thursday, the Galaxy Sprint on Saturday 18th and a Badge / NOL event at St Helens on Sunday 19th.
Terrain descriptionFriday - Trevallyn Reserve - Close to Launceston -open forest with rock and man made features. Saturday - Diddleum - Open farmland dissected by thickly vegetated erosion gullies in addition to areas of tree plantation and occasional granite outcrops. Sunday - Royal Geeorge - Rolling hills with fast open forest and sandstone and granite outcrops plus some tin mining. Monday - Royal George - A new area with open forest, spur and gully, granite boulders and tin mining.
