Event descriptionWelcome to an active Orienteering Holiday in Karmøy and Odda 4-8. July 2018! The sport clubs Haugesund IL and Odda O-lag, invite you to Fjord O vest 2018, (Nordvestgaloppen). The race courses are set in some of the most spectacular terrains in Fjord Norway. Our slogan: “From sea to mountain” Fjord-O vest is a four days competition with ranking. Two days offer middle distance and to days are set as long distance courses.
Terrain descriptionThe terrain: Day 1: Middle distance. Hiking area with many paths. Small hills with marshes, planted forest and some heather moors. Varying runability. Day 2: Long distance. Small hills with many details, open heather moors and some planted forest. Varying runability. Day 3. Long distance. Changing between slanting hillside, small hills and some slightly hillier. Open marshes, some birch thickets in higher area and birch and pine forest in lower areas. Generally good runability. Day 4: Middle Distance. Small hills, many details, slanting hillsides, birch forest and pines. Open marches.
Holiday activities,nature,hiking etc.Friday 6. July – your day off with a lot of exiting activities for the whole family. Karmøy beaches offer inviting white sands and clear, clean water. Sandvesanden, near Skudeneshavn, is one of Karmøy’s finest beaches. The area is rich in plant life, with many shapes, colours and scents. Skudeneshavn, founded on the incredible success of the early 19th Century herring harvests, offers charm and authentic surroundings. On the 5th of July, the festival Skudefestivalen, opens: http://skudefestivalen.no In Odda you can have a mountain hike to the famous Trolltunga (8 hours), a blue glace hike to the Buer Glacier (Folgefonna National Park) and admire the beautiful waterfalls in Oddadalen. In Røldal you can visit the Stave Church, built between 1200 and 1250.
