Event descriptionBALTIC ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIP welcomes you to a Spring orienteering event in Latvia of high quality. BALTIC ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIP is a World Ranking Event as well as Latvian Cup ranking Events, focusing on the best experience of terrains and courses. Equally, the terrains are highly relevant for WOC 2018 in Latvia, This means that Baltic Orienteering championship is attractive for runners at all ages and levels from around the world.
Terrain descriptionConiferous forest prevails. Very few clearings. Terrain is rich in various relief forms. Maximal height difference is 50 meters. Runnability is good and medium.
Training possibilitiesBefore and after the event, you can train on surrounding maps, enough for week of orienteering!
Holiday activities,nature,hiking etc.Baltic Orienteering championship will take palce in nature park "Daugavas Loki” that was established in the valley of the Daugava River between Kraslava and Naujene to preserve the unique landscape, biological diversity of plants and animals as well as cultural and historical monuments in the midstream valley of the Daugava. The nature park comprises eight 4-6 kilometers long scenic bends or meanders of the Daugava River, believed to be the most ancient formations of the Daugava Valley in Latvia where the river has maintained its natural course. These bends are part of the Augsdaugava protected landscape area which was declared a NATURA 2000 site in 2004 and included in the national list of the UNESCO World Heritage in 2011.
