Event descriptionPerfect for combination with Arctic Midnight Orienteering in Ilulissat (june 27-30) and WMOC in Copenhagen (July 6-13). 3 days of races, one sprint, one long and one middle distance, near the Capital of Greenland, Nuuk. The race usually has quite few runners, so there is always a good and friendly athmosphere. Still we do our best to keep the quality of the event high, and people always leave Greenland with an experience of a lifetime.
Terrain descriptionThe sprint event will take place in the old town of Nuuk, without the many twist and turns of the standard sprint, but with a touch of the mountainous terrain of Greenland. The middle and long distance races will take place at the nearby hill Quassussuaq. The terrain is all mountain, with hardly any manmade features. This terrain challenge the runners contour reading skills, and the high level of detail may confuse runners at any level. The openness of the terrain makes for good runnability, the challenge is in keeping your orientation, while also being exposed to one fantastic view after the other.
Training possibilitiesIn Nuuk we have a permanent controls course, that may be used for training. Maps are freely available, with courses ranging from 1 km easy to almost 5 km difficult orienteering.
Holiday activities, nature, hiking etc.The most famous activities include hiking, boat and helicopter trips and fishing. Nuuk also presents an interesting piece of history, including mummies and inuit and viking artifacts.
