Event descriptionThe Irish Championships is the major orienteering event on the IOA calendar. Prizes for non qualified Irish winners also.
Terrain descriptionDay 1: WIT campus is a typical college campus for the sprint race. Max distance will be 3.5 km. Fast and furious with quick decision making. Day 2: Open mountain for the Middle Distance race close to Coumshingaun lake in the Comeragh mountains. Terrain covered in glacial moraine and boulders. Tree cover close to finish. Day 3: Open mountain for the Classic distance close to Mahon Falls in the Comeragh mountains. Glacial moraine and lots of boulders! Day 4: Relays in an area of a typical mix of coniferous and deciduous woodland at the Towers near the town of Lismore in West Waterford.
Holiday activities,nature,hiking etc.Close to seaside resorts at Tramore and Ardmore for waterbased activities such as surfing. Mountains have plenty of walking possibilities.
