Event descriptionThe Transylvania Open 2015 (ed. 14), a 4-day event organized by a handful engaged orienteers from the club "TranSilva" from Cluj, who are willing to offer you interesting, technically and physically demanding orienteering races! Transylvania Open 2015 will be held on same maps as EYOC 2015. During 4 competition days you can take part in 4 races - middle distance, long distance, middle WRE distance and sprint WRE distance. Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár [HUN], Klausenburg [GER]) is the biggest orienteering centre in Transylvania, and one of the biggest in the country. The history of orienteering in Cluj goes back to the 50-ties, since then generations of map-makers, course-setters and competitors enriched the O-community with their work and experiences. Cluj is not only a centre for orienteering, but also a cultural and industrial centre, being one of the most significant university cities in Romania. You find more information and can get a "taste" of the region and the country on the pages Pictures, Photo gallery and Tourist Info. Cluj-Napoca is the European Youth Capital of 2015.
Terrain descriptionHilly, many contour details, deciduous forests, open and semiopen lands; variable runnability and visibility
