Event descriptionThe Thuringian 24-hour Orienteering relay is a cyclic relay competition that takes 24 hours. This year is the 19th edition of this traditional bi-annual event. There are only two categories, 12 and 24 hours. Six runners form a team, at least two of them must be female, and at most three may be M19-34. After the sixth runner finishes, the first runner starts again, and so on. Each runner may choose from a set of short or long, easy or difficult courses. Each leg typically takes 30-60 minutes, so every runner will run 5-6 times during the 24 hours. Tactics play an important role, which team member shall run which course and when. About 100 teams are expected for the 24 hours, and 60 teams for the 12 hours. Start/finish, event centre and camping ground are at one central location.
Training possibilitiesGerman student champs will be held on May 9/10, also at Ilmenau. See
