Event descriptionJoin us for a three days orienteering competition in terrains nearby the national parks of “Rondane” and “Forellhogna” in the northeastern part of southern Norway. The area is called “Nord Østerdal”, and is located approximately 300 km north of Oslo and 170 km south of Trondheim. There is train connection from both Oslo and Trondheim, but an own vehicle is needed for transport between the three different competiton sites. Program: Friday 5 July: Middle distance, map Stormoegga, scale 1:10.000, organizer Folldal IF and Alvdal IL. Interval start. Saturday 6 July: Middle distance, map Savalen, scale 1:10.000, organizer Tynset IF. Interval start. Sunday 7 July: Long distance, map Kaltberget, scale 1:10.000, organizer Kvikne IL Chasing start.
Terrain descriptionThe orienteering terrains have mainly open pine and birch forest with little or no undergrowth. The maps are rich on height curve details. With open vegetation and good runability the terrains may allow fast running, although you will also experience some steep hills and other challenges.
Training possibilitiesFor a small fee we will offer training possibilities on high quality orienteering maps in the area at any time, before or after the competitions.
