On Sunday May 13 a long distance event will be contested, with first starts from 9:30am. This long distance event is also a WRE. Terrain descriptionSprint: At Newcastle University, a typical University campus. Intricate campus buildings linked by a complex path network - all within a unique natural bushland setting. Many regard the Newcastle University sprint map as close to the best in Australia. Middle: A new map created for this event. Classic Newcastle spur-gully terrain, gently undulating, with an intricate track network and patches of mining detail. Typical Newcastle vegetation variability. Good visibility and fast running, an ideal middle distance venue. Access to a unique and historical event arena courtesy of Richmond Vale Preservation Society. Long: WRE. Classic Newcastle spur-gully terrain, undulating, to steep in places. Intricate erosion gully detail and track network across the map. Significant variation in runnability due to vegetation changes. An ideal test of endurance and great venue for long distance competition.
