Event descriptionScottish Orienteering invite you to the Jan Kjellström International Festival of Orienteering. This is a 4 day event, including Sprint Race (Livingston), 2 Individual races including WRE Middle Distance and JK Relays.
Terrain descriptionLivingston Sprint - Livingston New Town is designed with separate pedestrian and traffic network, with some 600 km of tracks, underpasses and numerous small areas of runnable woodland. This makes it probably the finest technical urban orienteering destination in Britain. Dunalastair Individual and WRE- Dunalastair was last used in 1997 for a Scottish 6 Day, but with a fantastic new parking and assembly area we will manage to get courses into the best of the area including moorland, open land, birch woodland and both pine and mixed plantations. Craig a Barns - Craig a’ Barns is known to many orienteers, and was the first specially mapped are in Scotland, used for the first Scottish Championships in 1962. The area includes some spectacular crags and a multitude of contours in a mature forest. Newtyle Relays - The start/changeover/finish area is in a fine setting with spectacular views for competitors and spectators alike. The terrain is a mix of deciduous pine plus conifer woodland and open hillside, with good contour and rock detail.
Training possibilitiesGet ready for WOC2015 - why not extend your stay and train near some of the WOC2015 areas (these are embargoed of course!!)
Holiday activities, nature, hiking etc. There's a lot going on near the event including the best white water canoeing in Scotland, superb crags and much more. Not far to excellent golf courses whatever way you drive.
