Event description | ROMe MMXI - Rome Orienteering MEeting 2011, at its second edition, consists of three competitions organized in the Eternal City by A.S.D. Orsa Maggiore with the co-operation of A.D. Polisportiva "G. Castello" and REM.MAPS. On the weekend of 9th/10th April ROMe MMXI - Rome Orienteering MEeting 2011 will be held again, with the same captivating formula that has been yeld on its first edition on 27th/28th March. In 2011 Appia Antica Regional Park will host the opening day events on Saturday, with a Park-O sprint race in the Aqueducts Park and a Trail-O competition in the afternoon along Caffarella Park valleys. And on Sunday you'll finally have the chance to compete in a new area of the city centre of Rome, managing to run holding your map and your compass through the Jewish Ghetto, Campo de' Fiori, Tiberina Island and Marcellus' Theatre ruins. So, stay connected because from now on all the informations regarding ROMe MMXI will be published on this website, until you will be asked to do your personal best to gather the final result! |
Terrain description | Aqueducts park will host the opening event of the second edition of the meeting, with a Foot-O / Park-O sprint race (winners times of around 15’) which will also appoint the titles for the Regional Sprint Championship. The peculiarity of the race map is the presence of ancient roman aqueducts that characterize Appia Antica Regional Park, together with the villae and other ancient ruins. At the end of the morning race, again in the Appia Antica Regional Park, Caffarella valleys will set the scenario of an Italian Cup competition of Trail-O, on a course that will amaze you while you walk in a true country inside the city, and very close to the center! The appointment for Sunday morning, like in the first edition, will be set in the historical centre of Rome for a worthy race such as the Trofeo Nazionale Centri Storici of Foot-O. The trophy is promoted by the Italian National Federation, F.I.S.O., and it represents the major expression of urban orienteering in Italy and there will be a spectacular and breath-taking final round for the Elite class, both male and female. This year courses will snake through the southern part of the map, kept unveiled in the first edition, between Ghetto narrow streets and one of the most famous squares of the Ethernal City: Campo dei Fiori. |
