Event descriptionFive days of Orienteering in the Mpumalanga Forests and towns of Dullstroom and Nelspruit. Great opportunity to combine Orienteering with viewing the Big 5 in the nearby Kruger National Park. Day3 - Long Distance and Day 5 - Sprint will be World Ranking Events.
Terrain descriptionThree days in very runnable Pine Plantations with a variety of rock formations, wetlands and contour complexity. One day in and around the Town of Dullstroom, which is at 2000m above sea level. A sprint event in the National Botanical Gardens of Nelspruit.
Training possibilitiesMany top ranked European Orienteering regularly use the area for high altitude training in the warm South African Summer while Europe is covered in snow and ice.
Holiday activities,nature,hiking etc.The Mpumalanga province is home to the worlds most famous game reserve, its third-deepest canyon, ancient caves, and a fascinating gold-rush history. Kruger National Park This world-renowned park of nearly 2 million hectares features 16 ecosystems. Spot the Big Five on a 4x4 game drive or walking safari. The Sabie Waterfalls Route in Mpumalanga is amongst South Africa's best-kept secrets: visitors are often so captivated by the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, with its magnificent cliffs and stunning views, not to mention dazzling flora and fauna, that this superb cluster of waterfalls is often overlooked.
