Event descriptionRomanian Cup (ed. 46) and Transylvania Open 2011 (ed.10) a 3-day event organised by a handfull engaged orienteers from the clubs "TranSilva" from Cluj, who are willing to offer you interesting, technically and physically demanding orienteering races! The highlights are without any doubt the long distance event on the second day being a WRE (IOF World Ranking Event). Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár [HUN], Klausenburg [GER]) is the biggest orienteering centre in Transylvania, and one of the biggest in the country. The history of orienteering in Cluj goes back to the 50-ties, since then generations of map-makers, course-setters and competitors enriched the O-community with their work and experiences. Cluj is not only a centre for orienteering, but also a cultural and industrial centre, being one of the most significant university cities in Romania. You find more information and can get a "taste" of the region and the country on the pages Pictures and Tourist Info. We hope that you will enjoy your stay, and gather some nice memories from this corner of the (orienteering-)world, "the forests of vampires"
Terrain descriptionHilly, many contour details, deciduous forests, open and semiopen lands; variable runnability and visibility
