Event description | Bükk Orienteering Days 2007 will be a dress rehearsal for both the European Youth Orienteering Championships in 2007 and WOC 2009. EYOC is held just 3 weeks after this event, and while the terrain for the second day is neighboring that of the EYOC terrain, it will be quite similar. The competition will follow the EYOC schedule: Day 1 (Fri) - sprint in Miskolc downtown (new area), Hungarian selection event Day 2 (Sat) - long, Hollóstető, Hungarian selection event Day 3 (Sun) - relay, Szentlélek All 3 days are being organised by the WOC 2009 organising team! |
Terrain description | Day 1 - flat downtown area, with many built-up areas, passageways. Minimum car traffic. Narrow passageways, small courtyards are typical for this downtown area. Passages are difficult to pick. New area, new map. Day 2 & 3 - Typical Hungarian terrain with some wonderful forests in full colour scale. Deciduous and conifer forests, many vegetation boundaries. The ground is covered by dead fallen leaves, there are many smaller stones in places. Visibility is very good, runnability is mostly good. There are some significant climbs in places. There are many point objects: lime burning places, knolls, charcoal burning grounds, pits and stones. Day 2 terrain is neighboring the EYOC terrain and also some WOC terrains, while the tearrain of day 3 is very relevant for both EYOC 2007 and WOC 2009 relays. |
Training possibilities | In conjunction with EYOC 2007, a training camp will be organised. For further information, please contact the Hungarian Orienteering Federation at iroda@mtfsz.hu |
