Event descriptionBJC “IK Auseklis” invites all orienteers from Baltic states and the rest of the world to a competition in which everyone will spend their time worthwhile, whether you are an Elite runner competing for a money prize or a passionate orienteer looking forward to explore new terrains and gain an unforgettable experience! Riga Orienteering week 2023 will start with 3 Magnets O-events, which will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. To get a better understanding of our terrains’ you have an excellent option to order training maps from our training collection. It is possible to combine all of the training sessions with sightseeing in the Riga vicinity. And, of course, we will also offer a model event right next to the competition terrain. And the week will finish with the grand finale - Riga Cup. Riga Cup will take place in a challenging terrain next to Baldone - Riekstukalns. In the winter it is the biggest skiing resort in Baltic states, but in the spring of 2023 you will have a chance to run on the slopes of this beautiful place. It will be an experience you will not forget! 1st bulletin is already available. There you will find information about the competition program, all distances and terrain, participation fees and other useful information. Let's create an orienteering festival together!
Terrain descriptionRanging from fast, open and technical sea side terrains to more hilly and demanding forests where Riga Cup will be held. Mixed tree forest with changing runnability. Detailed karst terrain. The highest point – Riekstukalns is 85m above the sea level. Runnability is affected by fallen trees and clearances. A lot of paths and tracks. Marshes can be wet in spring.
