Event descriptionThis will be the first time MTBO is arranged as an event this far up north in Norway and almost certainly this far north in the world ever! It is a 3-day event: Friday eve: Sprint Saturday: Long distance Sunday: Middle distance (early start) All the races will be within cycling distance from downtown. Important to mention - it is smart to book accommodation early due to heavy tourism.
Terrain descriptionIt is a fairly hilly terrain with a complex net of trails, tracks and paths. Some areas can be very stony, some very rooty and other areas very fast riding. It is clear that the terrain is near residential areas and used, on a big scale, by the public for running, cycling, hiking, skiing and as a playground for local kids, both summer and winter.
Training possibilitiesThere will not be provided any arranged training prior to the event start. However, if there will be a great interest from participants, we could probably arrange a training map of a local area. In that case, it will be for those who have access to a printer and can print it them self before arriving in Tromsø.
Holiday activities, nature, hiking etc.Tromsø has a lot to offer for the nature enthusiast. Hiking, climbing, skyrunning, MTB-cycling, kayaking, etc. The town is full of cultural life, supported by a variety of museums, galleries, churches, cafés, restaurants and craftwork shops. You will find all the desired shops if you are into shopping as well as souvenier shops.
