Event descriptionThe 3-day orienteering event in the Eternal City is taking place on 1st-2nd-3rd november 2019 and the opening stage is a welcome return to ROMe’s inaugural edition: Tor Tre Teste park hosted the first stage back in 2010! Plus, the organisers are going to reintroduce the same format as in ROMe2013’s Villa Borghese stage: a mass start race, taking place in the afternoon, gradually turning into a night event (both Elite classes will start after dusk). So… make sure to get your headlamp checked and charged! What do we have in mind for the second stage? Only the reason why you cannot miss ROMe2019! Cerveteri-Banditaccia’s Unesco site is the unique arena for the second stage, courses will pass through the world-reknown Etruscan necropolis, among tumuls tombs and along the Street of the Underworld (via degli Inferi). A shuttle bus service from/to the nearest train station of Marina di Cerveteri will be provided. Sunday’s race in Rome’s City Centre is included in City Race Euro Tour‘s calendar as the 7th stage. Pincio terrace, Villa Borghese and the picturesque Baroque area of the City will definitely leave a mark your memories.
Terrain descriptionThree totally different kinds of terrains await ROMe2019 participants: - stage 1 is both park with very high runnability and gardens/asphalt surface in the urban area - stage 2 varies from open land to forest, with hundreds of pits and rocky features. Runnability can be very low due to both vegetation, rocks and amount of details to read. - stage 3 is mainly a urban race in the city centre with asphalt/cobblestone surface, passing few park/garden areas too.
Training possibilitiesNo official training provided, though you're encouraged to ask the organisation for individual training possibilities both in Rome and Cerveteri.
Holiday activities, nature, hiking etc. When in Rome, there's plenty of monuments, churches and museums to visit. If you spend saturday afternoon in Cerveteri, you might want to visit the Etruscan Necropolis museum (just next to the arena) and/or the town centre.
